Big Boi plays Legacy Cup this year. So do Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Nappy Roots, and Sa-Roc.

Dabs, flower, beverages, vapes, and edibles.

Activations, activities, and consumption.

The competitions, the trophies.

None of that is why we are going. But you’ll see us supporting all these things too.

First and foremost, we’re looking to connect with farmers, cultivators that are looking to activate their license, or add an endorsement to their license. Our free CanGrow powered training helps prepare you for the process. Let’s get you signed up!

This year, the Minnesota Cannabis College is a media partner at Legacy Cup.

We are going because Saturday puts more of Minnesota's licensed cannabis industry into one field than any other day this year — and a field is where we do our best recruiting.

Friday was for the crew. If you missed it, here is what that was about.

The particulars

Legacy Cup VII (https://legacycupmn.com) runs Saturday, September 26, from noon to 8 p.m. at Surly Festival Field, 520 Malcolm Ave SE in Minneapolis.

It is 21 and over. Tickets run through Legacy Cup directly — General Admission, VIP, and a Sampling Tent tier, all listed on their passes page (https://legacycupmn.com/pages/passes).

No booth this year, instead we’re int he field the entire day, the same hours as the festival itself — noon to 8 p.m. Come find us before the music, between sets, or on your way out.

Walking the vendor rows

All of Saturday is us leaving the booth behind.

We plan to walk the vendor rows and talk with the license holders staffing their own tables. They are the ones who can tell us, plainly, where the real training gaps sit — which compliance habits are hardest to build on a sales floor, which roles go unfilled longest, what a new hire needs to know on day one that nobody wrote down.

That conversation feeds straight back into cannabis classes and workforce training. A curriculum built without the floor's own input is a guess. We would rather ask.

Finding people mid-story

The other part of Saturday is finding people and asking them to talk.

Students, alumni, competitors, first-time attendees wondering whether this industry has a seat for them — we want a few minutes with as many of them as will give it. On the record, for a follow-up piece in this newsletter.

If you see us and you have five minutes and an honest answer to how you got into this, we want to hear it.

What we bring besides a clipboard

For everyone stopping by wondering where to start: Retail Track registration is opening soon, CanGrow's powered cultivation dates are still being finalized, and our internship program is almost live and free to ask about.

None of it requires you to already work in the industry. Most of the people who ask us about workforce training on a Saturday in September are not yet in it.

Start before Saturday even happens
There is Still Time to Get Involved

Retail Track registration is opening soon

If the booth is the reason you are reading this, this is the next step. No festival ticket required.

Don’t try to find the table

The field does not come to us. So we go to the field.

We’ll be stopping by any time between noon and 8 p.m. Bring your questions, and bring the friend who keeps saying they want in but does not know where to start.

And the part that costs nothing. Our job board is free, online, and open right now. You do not need a ticket to anything to use it. If Saturday is not for you, nothing we are doing at that table is something you cannot do yourself at mncannabiscollege.org/jobs.
