Resources fund the work; stories explain why the work matters — and recruit the next person into it. Minnesota Cannabis College's resource engine includes grants, donors, and sponsors. Our story engine has a name and a glow: the Northern Lights Podcast.

Here's what it is, why a workforce nonprofit runs a podcast at all, and how it doubles as the signature benefit of our highest sponsorship tier.

The name earns its keep twice. It's unmistakably Minnesotan, our industry's story is a northern story, with its own climate, character, and community, distinct from the coastal cannabis narratives that dominate national coverage. And the aurora itself is a fitting metaphor: light appearing where there was long darkness, visible to everyone willing to look up.

That's the editorial mission in a sentence: illuminate Minnesota's cannabis community, its people, its progress, its unfinished business, for anyone willing to listen.

Putting voices where statistics usually go. Our written materials talk about workforce equity in numbers and frameworks: cohorts, completion rates, education as repair. The podcast is where the framework becomes a human voice, the texture of real experiences in Minnesota's cannabis story that a blog post can gesture at but never quite carry. Audio does what text can't: it lets you hear a person mean it.

Documenting a founding era. Minnesota's legal cannabis industry is being built right now, and founding eras are notoriously under-recorded, everyone's too busy building to take notes. The podcast is our contribution to the record: conversations from inside the industry's formation, captured while it's forming. Years from now, this archive will be one of the ways Minnesota remembers how it built this — and who built it.

Educating in a different register. Some people learn from articles; plenty more learn on a commute, on a job site, in earbuds. A podcast extends our educational mission to the audience that listens rather than reads — often exactly the audience deciding whether a cannabis career might be for them.
