We're working toward a permanent Saint Paul home, a rooted, stable campus for our programs and community, and while we're not yet at the ribbon-cutting, we want to share why this milestone matters so much, and what it will change for the people we serve.

Here's where we’re moving.

Since our Spring, we've done what young nonprofits do: we've made it work. Cohorts have been taught, nearly 50 students from our first retail class, a cultivation track about to launch, a job board went live, all built with the scrappiness of an organization whose infrastructure was always lighter than its ambition.

Scrappiness is a virtue. It's also a tax. Every hour spent coordinating logistics is an hour not spent on students. Every limitation on space is a limitation on what can be taught, stored, scheduled, and hosted. A permanent home converts that ongoing tax into a foundation, and foundations compound.

Here's what the compounding looks like.

For students: a door that's always the same door. There's an underrated psychology to place. A consistent, welcoming campus, where your cohort meets, where the instructors know you, where you belong on sight, turns "a program I'm taking" into "a place I'm part of." For students whose past experiences with institutions were alienating or worse, that sense of belonging isn't a nicety. It's the soil that completion rates grow in. Education as repair includes repairing what walking into a classroom feels like.

For programs: room to become what they're designed to be. Hands-on training wants dedicated space, for scenario practice, for demonstration setups, for the equipment and materials that turn curriculum from description into experience. A permanent home gives CanTrain powered retail classes, CanGrow powered cultivation, and the manufacturing track in development a stage sized to their ambitions, and gives us scheduling control to run more cohorts, more flexibly, for more students.

For alumni and the industry: a commons. A campus isn't just classrooms. It's where alumni gatherings happen, where employers meet graduating cohorts, where community events, info sessions, and industry conversations find a table. Minnesota's cannabis community — young, growing, and scattered, needs commons spaces where its people and its purpose can find each other. We intend to be one.

For the mission: proof of permanence. A rooted home says something no press release can: we are not a moment; we are an institution. Students planning career changes, funders weighing multi-year commitments, employers building hiring pipelines, all of them are rightly more confident in an organization with a front door. Permanence is credibility you can visit.

Because it's home. Minnesota Cannabis College is a Twin Cities-based organization, and our roots here aren't incidental, they're relational. Our students, partnerships, and community connections live in this city and this metro. The communities our mission centers are here. Planting our permanent flag in Saint Paul isn't a real-estate decision with a mission attached; it's the mission, expressed in geography. The Midway neighborhood is going through a revitalization of its own, and we're excited to be a part of it. $100s of millions of dollars are pouring into the area, economic growth in the form of housing, hotels, office space, a new entertainment district, all anchored by Allianz Field.

Student feedback

We're sharing this milestone-in-progress rather than waiting for the ribbon because our community has earned the inside view, and because the final steps of establishing a permanent home are exactly the season when support matters most. Facilities are the classic example of what program grants can't fully carry: the flexible funding that turns a lease into a launch comes from donors, sponsors, and partners who believe in the long game.

When the day comes, when we can finally show you the space, the address, the door, understand what you'll really be looking at. Not square footage. A promise with a location: that cannabis education as repair has a permanent home in Saint Paul, that the communities prohibition harmed have a campus built with them in mind, and that Minnesota's cannabis industry will always have a place where its next generation is being trained, welcomed, and known by name.
